Assessing elements of contradictions,
she measures her life by cigarette butts
tossed in an old can at the back door
and layers of skin wrinkled with promises.
She who dared to confront the universe
now accepts what comes with silence.
The past forgotten, everything is strange.
She found a crushed daisy
on the sidewalk this morning.
The universe doesn't care.

Oh, that is beautiful, Marianne. It is sad, yet, resolute.
Thanks for writing with me, my friend.
Love,
