Brenda's new wordle words:
happen * game * lag * luck
year * dream * states * trouble
citizen * purple * fly * earth
Peace On Earth
Night crackling
from the black cold
and lagging wearily,
it's the last hour
of the old year.
Moon is asleep
on a purple cloud,
dreaming of heroes.
We've used up all
our luck, good and bad.
There's trouble down
on Earth again,
there's always
trouble on Earth.
People can't
get along with folks
living right next door.
And then there are the wars,
barbaric and brutal,
killing innocents in
a mindless old man's game.
What would happen
if just once,
anger and conflict turned
into peace and harmony.
What if the new year began
free from violence.
What would happen
if everyone got along.

Oh yes, wouldn't it be nice if we had 'peace on earth, good will toward men' this next year! Good message, well wordled!
It would be heaven on earth!
That would be so lovely wouldn't it. But, the trouble is, we are all so different, even in our thinking of religion, and if we would learn to accept that difference and not take it to extremes in any faith, we'd know peace but sadly, while it is a New year fro some, it's not for others. So the cycle of violence continues, maybe it's the way it's always going to be until we humans have shifted as one whole into a higher spiritual awakening.
Lovely thoughts and great use of the wordle words. :)
If only, Marianne, if only. I feel so jaded with all that occurs. It's hard not to be cynical. Hope, that's the suggestion you end with, and I'm right there with you. Oh, if only...
If only, Marianne. A timely piece, well-crafted.
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Pamela
we always hope the new year will bring something good, but realistically, it's just a point in time, and it takes a lot to make things change, especially for the better since we are fighting entropy
"There's trouble down
on Earth again,
there's always
trouble on Earth. "
- I loved what you did with the wordle words. :-)
If only.
I like how you wrap up weary sentiments as the old year ends.
Will there ever be peace on earth?
A wonderful use of the wordle in a message we all wish would happen and know won't, as long as there exist people with evil intent in their hearts.
