Wordle 80: What Happens Between Men and Women

New wordle words from Brenda at The Sunday Whirl:
women, men, power, wish,
damaged, way, think, single,
thread, bound, within, we

What Happens
Between Men and Women
In the end,
it comes down
to this,
power struggles
waged over butter

and glistening blobs
of wild plum jelly

at breakfast;
damaged wishes
congealed
in the eggs.
Stalled
within the confines
of a bad marriage,
a single flimsy thread,

fine as a spider web,
binds us
together
until we,
irrevocably,

becomes
you

me.

Notes: This poem came together quickly. Not sure why the words took me in this direction.

Your first line sets a matter of fact tone that carries throughout. Excellent interpretation of the words, Marianne. Irrevocably is a great word.

Ooh asunder. There's a thin line between we and you & me.

You and I though along the same lines with these words...
It does all tend to become so petty, doesn't it.
Enjoyed this very much.

Oh...this is so true and powerful ending...showing how easily it can unravel if we're not tolerant or willing to budge. Great poem!

It all ends over arguments about blobs and globs of wild plum jelly...

A sad but powerful poem...

It seems to me, you said it well. Not the big things, really.....

When we becomes you and me... powerful. A delicate situation indeed.

sad. The opening had a Doris Lessing feel to it. High compliment!

Mariane, this is a stand up, straight on piece. I found your use of 'irrevocably' stunning in this very realistic portrait. Brava!

I would like to think that there is some 'you and me' that help to make up the 'we'. Difference can be a good thing, but as you say arguing over the trivial must be telling.
I don't think it matters where the spark comes from - just that we can capture it and make a permanent vision with it. - Thank you.

Ah, Marianne, are we not bound to become "we". A strong piece of writing. I am seeing some amazing poems today for the whirl and yours in no exception. Well done.
