two squirrels
chase 'round the oak,
claws scratching gnarled bark.
They have no clue
about coronavirus or pandemics.
Turned upside down, the world
grows deserted and silent,
the hum of life muted.
This virus has killed thousands,
plunged the days into limbo
with no end in sight.
But to the squirrels,
it's just another spring.
I long for that, the return
to the normal rhythm of being.

Yes, everyone wants that. But meantime, I believe lots of people are finding sights and sounds that might alter their narrow perspective. Like squirrels and other things found in nature. If we come out of this with a higher respect for this beautiful place we live in, that can't be bad.
