NaPoWriMo #5: make your poetry personal

Prompt for Day 5
Make your poetry personal. It’s already thoughts, observations, personal feelings and stories dressed up in pretty words and oblique descriptions. Now make your poetry really personal. Give poetry, as you write it, a name, a gender, a personality. Now write a poem that suits your view or vision.

The Girl She Used to Be
She used to believe in fairy tales,
she used to think the moon followed her,
used to wear red lipstick,
used to be pretty.

She used to know things,
used to sing in the shower,
used to be starry-eyed,
used think trees made the wind blow.

She used to love him,
used to pick daisies,
used to care.
She used to believe...

Now she knows loneliness
and disappointment
and the white echo of silence.
She's forgotten the girl she used to be.
