Carry On Tuesday Prompt #103

Carry On Tuesday
This week, we borrow a first line from William Shakespeare:

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players

Use all or part of it within your poem or prose.

The End Of It
She takes off her earrings,
leans in to the mirror,
brushes her teeth. Same
tired performance every
night. Unhooks her bra,
pulls off her stockings,
tugs on her pale blue
nightgown with tiny
embroidered flowers.

If all the world's a stage
this is her final act.
Maybe there will be time
for one last curtain call.
A bit player, she's never
made it to the big time.
The night folds down,
she slides into bed,
turns out the light.

Marianne, a very sad poem about resignation. Your words had me watching the scene. Well done.

I'm with Pamela. Resignation covers the piece. Well done, Marianne. It leaves me with a bit of sadness.

Marianne, I am sure there are a lot of bit players in theater who could identify with your poem. Well written to prompt.

I want more for her! More, please! I want her to know she is the star of her own show. How to impart the information?

Absolutely lovely detail and emotions that pulled me in. I'm like Kim... I want to know more...
