It Was April
Thirty-three years ago.
I remember
like it was yesterday,
me brimming with
expectant anticipation,
me brimming with
expectant anticipation,
waiting to be a mother
for the first time.
Prescribed bed rest,
propped on my left side,
carefully embroidering
Winnie-the-Pooh on a bib,
stitching and planning.

butterflies fluttered
along side new life ...
my beautiful daughter,
born on April twenty-first.
